The main reference for Basque Literature.
The EIE (Basque Writers' Association) founded in 1982 was created as a not-for-profit organisation with the aim of defending the professional and moral rights of Basque writers.
It currently has about 325 members and its aims are as follows:
- To defend the professional and moral rights of Basque writers
- To play an active, effective role in Basque language and cultural activity
- To spread Basque literature throughout the Basque Country and abroad
- To promote the works of its members in society
